It replaces withdrawn N51 (that runs from New Bridge Road to Bedok), N61 (that runs from Bedok to Upper Cross Street) and N77 (that runs from Tampines Avenue 4 to New Bridge Road).
Route was transferred via Chong Guyan's contract on 8 February 2002, and was extended to Tampines Avenue 7, and Marina Centre in both bounds. Route was also diverted via ECP on 23 June 2003, and contract awarded to Carrefour on 11 November 2007.
Introduced in 15 January 1992, the section runs from Changi Village to Buona Vista.
On 24 July 1997, it was shortened to terminate at New Bridge Road, and the route was switched to the loop service: New Bridge Road - Serangoon Road - Tampines - Bedok - New Bridge Road, in order to replace the withdrawn part of N93, which runs between Tampines Road and Pandan Gardens.
On 23 November 2001, the section between New Bridge Road and Tampines was withdrawn, and was replaced by N24, and it was extended to Changi Village at the same time.
